BAQ Open amateur tournaments for media representatives
Since 2019, the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation has been organizing the annual BAQ Open amateur tournament. The competition brings together representatives of the media, PR industry, and press offices.
In summer, matches are held on clay courts in Almaty, while the winter edition takes place on hard courts in Astana.
Over the years, BAQ Open has become a unique platform that brings together media professionals from across Kazakhstan, including journalists, bloggers, cameramen, photographers, video editors, and other members of the media community. The tournament’s main mission is to unite media professionals, create new opportunities for networking and collaboration, strengthen professional connections, and promote the values of mass participation in sports and a healthy lifestyle.
BAQ Open offers participants not only the excitement of competition but also an atmosphere of friendship, experience-sharing, and inspiration.
Competition Format and Regulations
The tournament is strictly amateur in status. To ensure fair and balanced competition, players are assigned ratings based on their previous performances, which are taken into account during the draw.
Competition format: During the first stage, players compete in round-robin groups. This is followed by the playoff stage, where participants are divided into two main draws: the Masters and Futures divisions.
Match format: Each match consists of a single set played to six games. If the score reaches 6–6, the winner is determined by a standard tie-break.
Important Information
In accordance with the tournament regulations, the organizing committee reserves the right to decline any registration application without providing a reason.
By submitting an application, participants automatically confirm that they have no medical conditions preventing them from taking part in the tournament, assume full responsibility for their health and physical condition, and agree not to hold the organizers liable in the event of force majeure circumstances.
