Elena Rybakina named sportswoman of the year at Metaratings Top Awards
The Metaratings Top Awards national sports and business awards ceremony took place in Almaty on June 11, recognizing winners across a range of categories.
The Metaratings Top Awards, a national award in the field of sports and sports business, was held for the third time. The winners were selected by a jury that, from March 10 to March 20, 2026, chose the laureates from three nominees in each category, taking into account the results of the public vote.
Kazakhstan’s top-ranked tennis player Elena Rybakina was named sportswoman of the year after receiving the highest number of votes in the public poll.
In 2025, Rybakina claimed the biggest title of her career by winning the WTA Finals for the first time. At the start of the 2026 season, she captured her second Grand Slam title, triumphing at the Australian Open.
This season, Rybakina remains in contention for the world No. 1 ranking. She is currently ranked No. 2 in the WTA rankings and has made a successful start to her campaign at the WTA 500 tournament in London.
