
Elena Rybakina wins seventh WTA title in her career
The WTA 500 tournament in Abu Dhabi ended with the victory of Elena Rybakina.
In the final, Kazakhstan's top-ranked player confidently defeated Russia's Daria Kasatkina, ranked 14th in the WTA rankings, 6-1, 6-4. For an hour and a bit of playing time the Kazakh managed to ace 4 times and realize 6 break points out of ten. Before this final match the score of their personal ties was 2:2.
Rybakina won her first title on the WTA Tour in 2019 at the WTA 250 in Bucharest. In 2020, she won the WTA 250 event in Hobart. In 2022 Elena became the champion of Wimbledon. The year 2023 brought two WTA 1000 trophies: Indian Wells followed by Rome. Early in 2024 Elena won the WTA 500 in Brisbane. Thus, after her victory in Abu Dhabi, Rybakina already has seven WTA titles.
With today's title, Elena Rybakina will move up to the fourth position in the updated WTA rankings from tomorrow, February 12.
