Dmitry Savchuk, Director of the «Astana Open» ATP-250 event, in an interview with the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation press service shared about the arrangements for the highly responsible commencement of the Event.

- The question of a concern for tennis fans is whether spectators will be allowed to the stands?

- We're planning to allow invited guests to the stands. These will be children from tennis training groups from various regions of Kazakhstan making it 30% of the seating capacity. Before entering the  the National Tennis Center children will undergo PCR testing in compliance with all hygiene requirements. This is a good opportunity for children to see the play of top professional athletes and cheer for their favorite players.

- In a pandemic, what measures will the host take to ensure the safety of the tournament participants?

- All players arriving in Kazakhstan must carry a negative PCR test with them. Upon arrival, participants, their accompanying persons, ATP and WTA delegates, officials will have to pass an antigen test. Only after receiving a negative result, athletes will receive accreditation and will be admitted to the venue which is being prepared in a format of an enclosed and safe space. We intend to carry out disinfection measures in the facility in-between matches. This is to ensure maximum safety for all participants and tournament host.

- What legacy will the upcoming tournament bring for the future development?

- The «Astana Open» ATP-250 will be an important event in Kazakhstan, contributing to the development of tennis in the country, increase of sports participation overall and the attraction of children to tennis. And we want the participants of the tournament to have the warmest memories.
