The final of the ATP 250 Astana Open tournament will be held today

The first ATP 250 tournament in the history of Kazakhstan is coming to an end. Its distinctive feature is already called the short preparation time – only six weeks and very long, up to three hours of time, matches.

- Intense matches, a lot of best of three matches- almost 70% of them, close and intense fight, everyone wants to win. For many, this will be the last tournament in the calendar, so everyone fought, - said YuriyPolskiy, Vice-President of the Tennis Federation of Kazakhstan.

The title for the longest match is contested. Tommy Paul and John Millman -it was almost three hours, 171 minutes of playing time and the confrontation between Kazakhstan's Dmitry Popko and Moldova's Radu Albot - also exactly 171 minutes. The shortest match can go down in the history of the tournament as a tie of Kazakhstan's Timofey Skatov and Finn Emil Ruusuvuori - 60 minutes.

According to aces ' statistics, Yegor Gerassimov from Belarus is confidently ahead of all Astana Open participants. Frenchman Adrian Mannarino has the best serve return-42%. Emil Ruusuvuori, who beat Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan the day before, performs the best quality serving and wins the first point.

The qualifying matches of the tournament started on October 25. The top four seeds at the Astana Open were Frenchmen Benoit Paire and Adrian Mannarino, former world Junior champion and new generation player Miomir Kecmanovic and Australian John Millman.
Kazakhstan tennis players Dmitriy Popko and Timofey Skatov, member of the Kazakhstan Davis Cup team Denis Yevseyev, as well as former world No. 18, Italian Andreas Seppi, member of the Serbian Davis Cup team and world team championship Viktor Troicki received wild cards from the organizers of the tournament.

Due to the reduction of the tournament draw, participation in Astana Open became an opportunity for tennis players to gain additional points in the ranking. The maximum security was provided for the players: more than 1,500 PCR tests were booked, and they were passed every four days. The most secure space was organized for the tennis players.



Tennis players from Kazakhstan, Spain, Serbia, France, Australia, Great Britain, Portugal, USA, Italy, Czech Republic, Moldova, Argentina, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Germany, South Africa, Finland, Japan, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Uruguay, Croatia, Brazil, India, Ecuador and Monaco entered the Astana Open courts.
The Prize Fund of the tournament is $ 275 k. Live broadcasting is delivered by Qazsport TV channel. In addition, 28 countries have requested applications for international broadcasting.
It is the first time the ATP 250 series tournament is hosted in Kazakhstan. Spectarors are not allowed during the matches due to the coronavirus pandemic.
