On November 30, the National Tennis Center hosted the opening ceremony of the 8th International Tennis Tournament “Nur-Sultan Open”. In the welcoming speech at the opening ceremony, the Vice President of the Tennis Federation Mr. Dias Doskarayev noted that the amateur movement is the most powerful resource in promoting tennis  among the population. "The President of the Tennis Federation of Kazakhstan Mr. Bulat Utemuratov very much supports amateur tennis, as he himself is a big fan of this game and on his behalf I congratulate all participants on the start of the tournament and wish them only good luck and new victories!" - the Vice President said.

The tournament is attended by more than 100 amateur tennis players not only from Kazakhstan, but also from Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France, Spain and China. Oscar Garcia, a native of Spain, teaches economics at the "Miras" school and is not the first time participating in this tournament: “I have been living in Kazakhstan for 6 years and have heard a lot about this tournament. I myself have been participating for the fourth year in a row. For me it is primarily a pleasure, I have not occupied any honorable places, this time I plan to go through at least the first round. The level of organization is always very high and it pleases".

Igor Malikov, the amateurs' No.1 in the current ranking also participates in the tournament: “This is the 8th International amateur tournament. I participate every year, I always reach the finals, sometimes I stumbled in the semifinals, however I try to represent Kazakhstan well. Will try to retain the first position in the amateurs' ranking. I have a lot of new plans and projects regarding amateur tennis. We want to establish a club of tennis travelers "Game Voyage", where amateurs can go on joint trips and participate in tournaments abroad".

Competitions will be held until December 2 in the following categories: women singles 20+ and men singles 30+ and 45+. Doubles will be only 35+. The total prize fund is KZT 2 million. The Tennis Federation contributes to the development of amateur clubs and holds 7 tournaments per year for amateurs of different levels, providing courts, equipment, referees, and valuable prizes. In addition, amateur tournaments are held along with major professional tournaments so that those who wish may not only watch the game of their favorite athletes, but also play several matches on the courts next to them.
