«Team Qazaqstan» Tennis Academy unveils new brand identity

«Team Qazaqstan» Tennis Academy, the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation’s flagship project for developing a strong pipeline of players for the national teams, has announced a rebranding. The обновление reflects a new stage in the academy’s development and its continued commitment to nurturing internationally competitive players.

The academy was established at the initiative of Kazakhstan Tennis Federation President Bulat Utemuratov and officially opened on June 1, 2008. It became the country’s first specialized academy dedicated to developing Kazakhstan’s most promising young tennis players.

From the outset, the project has focused on the all-round development of its athletes. Alongside professional tennis training, academy players receive a high-quality school education, study English at an advanced level, and have the opportunity to continue their development at leading international academies and tennis centres.

The first intake of players aged 12 to 17 took place in June 2008. Just a few months later, the academy’s players and coaching staff travelled to Gorin Tennis Academy in the United States for their first international training camp, marking the beginning of long-term cooperation with some of the world’s leading tennis centres.

A major milestone in the academy’s development came in 2009 with the appointment of highly respected Dutch coach Eric van Harpen. He led the creation of a modern player development system and helped strengthen the academy’s coaching structure. In the same year, the project was joined by Polish coach Mieczyslaw Boguslawski, one of the world’s leading specialists in tennis-specific physical conditioning.

Team Qazaqstan Academy has become an important platform not only for player development, but also for strengthening Kazakhstan’s national coaching system. Over the years, dozens of Kazakhstani specialists have completed training programmes and internships under the guidance of leading international experts, gaining experience in modern tennis development methods. Among them are Sergey Kvak, Pavel Tsoy, Petr Setinski, Vitaly Pavlov, Sagadat Ayat, Bolat Mamyr, Zhansultan Chembotayev and Dostanbek Tashbulatov.

The knowledge and expertise they gained were subsequently introduced at regional tennis centres and within the national teams, significantly strengthening the professional capacity of tennis in Kazakhstan.

Over the years, the academy has built an extensive international network of partnerships. Kazakhstani players have trained at leading academies in Italy, Spain, the United States, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, including Rafa Nadal Academy, Piatti Tennis Center, Bruguera Tennis Academy, Pro World Tennis Academy, Mouratoglou Tennis Academy, TenisVal and other internationally recognised training centres.

Today, Team Qazaqstan brings together the senior and reserve squads of Kazakhstan’s national teams, with 32 athletes currently training within the programme. Over the past five years, 19 players representing Team Qazaqstan Academy have been selected for Kazakhstan’s national teams across various age groups.

Throughout its history, the academy has developed many professional players who have successfully represented Kazakhstan at major international competitions, including the Davis Cup, the Billie Jean King Cup, World Tennis tournaments and the Asian Championships.

Its alumni include Anna Danilina, who reached world No. 6 in doubles; Asian Games silver medallist Denis Yevseyev; Youth Asian Games bronze medallist Dmitry Popko; Zhibek Kulambayeva; Grigoriy Lomakin; Dostanbek Tashbulatov; and representatives of the new generation of Kazakhstani tennis, including Amir Omarkhanov, Zangar Nurlanuly and Akhmadi Makhanov.

The rebranding of Team Qazaqstan Tennis Academy highlights the continuity of the traditions established over the years while also reflecting a new stage in its development. The academy remains a key centre for preparing the future leaders of Kazakhstani tennis.
