Paralympians and Top-100 Players Compete at Zijin RG Gold Open International Tennis Tournament in Aktau
The Zijin RG Gold Open, an international wheelchair tennis tournament of the ITF Wheelchair 50 series, concluded in Aktau. Matches took place from May 23 to 26 on courts located along the Caspian Sea coast. The event marked the tournament’s debut on the international tour calendar and wrapped up Kazakhstan’s spring series of professional competitions hosted across the country over the past two weeks.
More than 60 athletes from 10 countries across Asia and Europe took part in the tournament. Alongside the leaders of Kazakhstan’s national team, top wheelchair tennis players from Malaysia, France, South Korea, Japan, and several other countries competed in Aktau. The tournament’s high level was reflected in the caliber of participants, with Paralympians and players ranked inside the world’s top 100 battling for trophies and valuable ITF ranking points.
The tournament was made possible with the support of Zijin RG Gold, a long-standing and trusted partner of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation, which is now also expanding its involvement in adaptive sports initiatives.

Organizers plan to make the tournament an annual event and include it in the ITF Wheelchair 50 international series again next year. Winners in each category earned 50 ranking points, allowing players to significantly improve their positions in the world rankings and strengthen their chances of qualifying for major international events, including the Asian Para Games and the Paralympic Games.
