World-Class Excellence: Kazakhstan’s National Tennis Center Achieves Rare ITF Gold Status
This prestigious certification validates that Kazakhstan’s infrastructure and athlete development systems meet the most rigorous global standards. With this «Gold» mark of excellence, Kazakhstan officially joins an elite global circle. To date, only six other nations have achieved this status: France, the USA, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Canada, and Switzerland.
«Granting Gold status is a testament to the fact that the Beeline Arena in Astana meets all international requirements for player development and infrastructure quality. The decision by the ITF commission, led by President David Haggerty, followed a comprehensive evaluation: athlete performance, development programs, coaching standards, tournament organization, safety protocols, and a commitment to integrity – including anti-doping and anti-match-fixing measures», commented Bulat Utemuratov, President of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation. – «This is the result of systematic work by the Federation, the tennis center team, and our coaches. Most importantly, the conditions and infrastructure we have built allow us to consistently develop tennis across the country – particularly at the youth level – and produce world-class, competitive players».
Over the past 18 years, Kazakhstan has constructed 39 tennis centers with 394 hard and clay courts. During this period, private investment in the sport has exceeded $200 million.
The Gold status has been awarded for a four-year period, valid through 2030. The Federation has also earned the right to use the official «ITF Gold» insignia.
In addition to technical recognition from the ITF, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) presented the Kazakh center with the National Training Centre Integrity Standards Award. ITIA CEO Karen Moorhouse highlighted that Kazakhstan has fostered a unique environment for player growth centered on fair play. According to the ITIA, the NTC has established a transparent system that ensures process integrity and protects athletes from doping and corruption risks. Overall, achieving Gold Level Recognition confirms that Kazakhstan’s training system aligns with international best practices and creates a sustainable foundation for the sport’s future.
