
An International Tennis Coaches Seminar «TENNIS DRIVES – FITNESS SUPPORT» Held at the Alatau Tennis Center
An international seminar for tennis coaches titled «TENNIS DRIVES – FITNESS SUPPORT» took place at the Alatau Tennis Center.
The event brought together more than 130 coaches from nine countries: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Italy, Russia, Belarus, Turkey, and Georgia.
The seminar speakers were renowned tutors from Croatia — Dario Novak and Hrvoje Zmajic.
Dr. Dario Novak is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb, and President of FIEPS Europe, while Hrvoje Zmajic is an international consultant for player and coach development with over 30 years of experience in advancing tennis across Europe and worldwide.
The experts shared their knowledge in the areas of athlete preparation and professional development for fitness coaches and tennis trainers. Particular attention was given to the development of endurance, speed, and coordination — key factors for achieving high performance in tennis.
Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, exchange experiences, and discuss current trends in player development.

Dr. Dario Novak holds a PhD in Sports Science and completed postdoctoral studies at Columbia University and Harvard University (USA).
He is the author of over 200 scientific publications, has delivered numerous presentations at international conferences, and has received several prestigious international awards for his contribution to sports science and education.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Novak has collaborated with leading tennis players such as Stan Wawrinka, Elena Rybakina, Donna Vekic, and Marta Kostyuk.
Hrvoje Zmajic worked with ITF and Tennis Europe from 2003 to 2017 as a Regional Development Officer, overseeing programs for national federations, coaches, and junior players. During this period, he played an important role in the development of top players including Jelena Ostapenko, Grigor Dimitrov, Damir Dzumhur, and Mirza Basic, as well as many other Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup players.
In recent years, Mr. Zmajic has collaborated with the federations of Finland, Turkey, Sweden, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Italy, and Kazakhstan, helping to design and enhance training programs for both coaches and players. He is also an ITF lecturer and speaker, regularly presenting at international coaching conferences and seminars around the world.
