18-year-old Amir Omarkhanov advances to ITF final in Tunisia
Kazakhstan’s Amir Omarkhanov (ATP No. 757) continues his impressive run on the courts of Monastir. In the semifinals of the ITF M15 event, the rising star delivered a dominant performance to sweep aside Germany's Luca Wiedenmann. The match, which lasted just over an hour, ended in a commanding straight-sets victory for Omarkhanov, 6-4, 6-1.
In the final of the $15,000 tournament, the 18-year-old will face Anton Shepp of New Zealand. Despite his underdog status and ATP ranking of No. 910, Shepp has been in formidable form this week, knocking out several strong opponents to reach the title match.
For the young Kazakhstani, this final represents a prime opportunity to consolidate his progress on the professional circuit and add another trophy to his growing collection.
