Legendary Roland-Garros Comes to Kazakhstan. Gorky Tennis Park Becomes an Official Roland-Garros Club
Gorky Tennis Park has been granted the status of an official Roland-Garros club — one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world — becoming one of only three clubs globally to receive this honor. The partnership is formalized through an official agreement between the French Tennis Federation and Gorky Tennis Park.
«We are thrilled to become part of this legacy and to bring such an iconic brand to Kazakhstan. Our main mission is the comprehensive development of tennis in the country. Now, our children and tennis enthusiasts will be able to experience the atmosphere, culture, and traditions of Roland-Garros, and train in top-level conditions,» said Ardak Abzhanov, CEO of Gorky Tennis Park, highlighting the significance of the partnership.
From now on, Gorky Tennis Park becomes part of the structure associated with the organization of the French Open — one of the four Grand Slam tournaments. The status of an official Roland-Garros club affirms international recognition of the Kazakhstani venue within the global tennis community, emphasizing its high reputation and special significance through its connection with one of the world’s most prestigious tournaments. As part of the partnership, Gorky Tennis Park has been granted the right to host the qualification stage of Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault for West & Central Asia. The winning boy & girl as well as and runners-up will play the final stage in Tokyo (13-19 October 2025) gathering the best Asian Juniors.
«French Tennis Federation is proud to collaborate with Gorky Tennis Park, a premium clay court venue that truly embodies the spirit of Roland-Garros. As our exclusive Roland-Garros Club in Kazakhstan, Gorky Tennis Park is setting a new standard for tennis in the region. We’re especially excited to see the Club hosting, since 2024, the West & Central Asia Qualifier of Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault, a key step in nurturing the next generation of clay court champions.» Aymeric Labaste, Head of Roland-Garros International Development.
«The Asian Tennis Federation is proud that the Kazakhstani tennis center, Gorky Park in Almaty, has received such high recognition as an official Roland-Garros club. This marks only the second time in Asia’s history — alongside the Roland-Garros Club Hainan in China — that a club has been awarded such a distinction for its excellence and infrastructure quality. We are confident that this recognition will help Gorky Tennis Park become not only the leading private tennis club in Kazakhstan but also one of the most prominent and respected tennis venues in Asia,» stated Yuriy Polsky, President of the Asian Tennis Federation.
Gorky Tennis Park’s recognition as an official Roland-Garros club is the result of years of support from the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation, which has consistently invested in coach education, player development, and the elevation of club and infrastructure standards.
Recently, with financial support from Kazakhstan Tennis Federation President Bulat Utemuratov, Gorky Tennis Park underwent a complete renovation and modernization — including the launch of a professional academy, a full overhaul of its facilities, and the upgrade of court surfaces to meet international standards.
