Anna the Great! Anna Danilina won her 26th doubles title
Kazakhstan's Anna Danilina and Russia's Anastasia Tikhonova won a $60,000 hard-court tournament in Madrid.
Danilina and Tikhonova were seeded No. 1 at the tournament where they then confidently reached the tournament’s Final where on Saturday they faced Lu Jia Qin (China) / You Xiaodi (Japan).
In the first set the Kazakh-Russian duo needed one successful break to win, 6:4. In the second set Anna and Anastasia picked up the pace and outplayed three serves of their opponents straight off the reel to win the match, 6:2.
The title won in the Spanish capital has become the 26th doubles title in Anna’s career, 25 of which she won under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). In early 2022, the Kazakhstani won in pair with Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil in the WTA 250 event in Sydney. To sum up it is this year’s third trophy for Danilina.
