The names of the first winners of the “President's Cup Beeline Series 2021" have become known
On the courts of the National Tennis Center in Nur-Sultan, the final doubles matches of the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF Women's World Tennis Tour series - "Kerey Challenger 80" and "Tomiris W 60" - have finished, as reported the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation press office.
Ukrainian Sergey Stakhovsky / Peter Polanski from Canada and Yu Hsu (Taipei) / Benjamin Locke (Zimbabwe) met in the men's decisive match. In the first set, Sergey and Peter literally defeated their rivals - 6:2. For the second part, Hsyu and Lock came out energized and took over with an even more convincing 6:1 score. The outcome of the confrontation was decided by a super tiebreak. In this tennis "lottery" good luck was on the side of the Asian-African duo - 10:7.
The women's decisive battle was no less spectacular. Russians Alina Charaeva and Maria Timofeyeva won a challenging victory over Evgeniya Levashova (Russia) / Laura Pigossi (Brazil) in three sets - 7:6 (7:5), 2:6, 10:6. Interesting moment is that exactly during the final game, Brazilian Laura Pigossi was informed that she would perform at the Tokyo Olympics. Such news slightly softened the bitterness of defeat for the South-American player.
Mariam Bolkvadze (Georgia) and Valeria Savinykh (Russia) will face off in the Tomiris W 60 singles final tomorrow. And British Jay Clarke and Australian Max Purcell will meet in the Kerey Challenger 80 men’s final.
As for the names of the tournament series, let us remind that the women's tournament is named after the Scythian queen Tomiris. Two men's tournaments of the "President's Cup Beeline Series" were named in honor of Kerey and Zhanibek, who inscribed their names in history as the founders of the Kazakh Khanate.
The general sponsor of the tournaments is “Beeline”
Official partners are: “Kazzinc”, “Samruk Kazyna”, and “Aqua Rossa”.
