The Kazakhstani was one step away from the championship at the "Beeline Open Challenger 80 Almaty" tournament, as reported by the press service of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation.

In the first set of the final match, in which Timofey was opposed by Belgian Zizou Bergs, Skatov managed to make a break in the third game, thanks to which he was able to take over the game, 6: 4. However, the next two sets were in favour of Bergs - 6:3, 6:2.

The tie lasted 2 hours and 1 minute. Timofey converted one break point out of five and once made a mistake when serving. Bergs broke the opponent's serve three times and made five aces.

“I would like to thank my entire team, fans and TV viewers who supported me throughout the week. This support is very important. I also want to thank my coach. If I had been told at the beginning of the tournament that I would make it to the final, I would not have believed it. I would like to note the excellent organization of the competition, everything was organized at the highest level” Timofey Skatov said after the award ceremony.

Despite the loss, the 20-year-old native of the city of Petropavlovsk can add his performance at the home Challenger as yet another asset of hism as for the first time in his career he played in the final of the ATP Challenger series tournament.
