Alexander Shevchenko to compete at Almaty Open ATP 250

Kazakhstan’s No. 2 men’s singles player Alexander Shevchenko has confirmed his participation in the Almaty Open, an ATP 250 tournament set to take place in Almaty from October 17 to 25.

The 25-year-old has been a consistent competitor on the ATP Tour over the past several seasons. Shevchenko reached a career-high ranking of World No. 45 in February 2024.

The Kazakhstani player has recorded several strong results this season. In March, Shevchenko earned a comeback victory over American Ben Shelton, who was ranked inside the world’s top 10 at the time, at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami. Another of his best results of the season was a semifinal appearance at the ATP 250 tournament in Gstaad, Switzerland.

Shevchenko has represented Kazakhstan on the international stage since 2024. That same year, he represented the country at the Paris Olympic Games.

The Almaty Open ATP 250 traditionally attracts a strong field of players and is part of the official ATP Tour calendar. The tournament is one of Kazakhstan’s major international sporting events of the autumn and draws the attention of tennis fans from around the world each year.
