Ahmadi Makhanov claims first World Tennis J100 title
Kazakhstan’s Ahmadi Makhanov has claimed the title at the World Tennis J100 international tournament in Vienna, Austria.
On the clay courts of the Austrian capital, Makhanov competed in the boys’ doubles alongside local player Leander Tauber. The Kazakh-Austrian duo entered the tournament as the fourth seeds.
In the final, Makhanov and Tauber faced second seeds Paul Hjorteland and Nikolai Shibani of Norway. The Norwegian pair took the opening set 6-4, but Makhanov and Tauber responded by winning the second set by the same score. The title was then decided in a match tie-break, where the Kazakh-Austrian duo prevailed 10-5.
The final score was 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
The victory marked the first World Tennis J100 title of 15-year-old Ahmadi Makhanov’s career. The Kazakhstani player had previously won three J60 titles in Chengdu, Karaganda and Andijan, as well as two J30 titles in Manama.
