Asylzhan Arystanbekova crowned Asu Open champion in Astana

The second week of the World Tennis W15/M15 Asu Open international combined tournament has concluded in Astana. Kazakhstani players reached the finals in all four events, with the highlight of the week being 20-year-old Asylzhan Arystanbekova’s triumph in the women’s singles.

In the final, Arystanbekova faced South Korea’s Jang Su-jeong. The Kazakhstani player delivered a confident performance in the title match, securing a straight-sets victory, 6-3, 6-1.

The victory marked Arystanbekova’s first career title at World Tennis W15 level. Her road to the trophy was particularly challenging, as she suffered an injury during the tournament but continued competing and managed to overcome several strong opponents. Among them was Russian Anna Pushkareva, a Wimbledon junior champion. In the semifinals, Arystanbekova also defeated Edda Mamedova of Russia, the winner of the first week of the Asu Open.

Arystanbekova came close to finishing the week with two titles. Partnering with Inkar Dyusebay, she reached the women’s doubles final. In the title match, the Kazakhstani duo fell to the tournament’s top seeds, South Korea’s Heerae Im and Eunchae Kim, 5-7, 3-6.

Kazakhstan was also represented in the men’s singles final, where Damir Zhalgasbay faced Japan’s Shunsuke Mitsui. The Kazakhstani put up a strong fight in the opening set, but Mitsui ultimately claimed the title with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.



Zhalgasbay also reached the men’s doubles final alongside Daniyal Rakhmatullayev. In the title match, the Kazakhstani pair lost to Martin Borisiouk of Russia and Karan Singh of India.

As a result, Kazakhstani players featured in all four finals during the second week of the Asu Open. Asylzhan Arystanbekova claimed the women’s singles title, while Kazakhstan was represented by finalists in the other three events.

The World Tennis W15/M15 Asu Open international combined tournament was held on the hard courts of the Beeline Arena National Tennis Center in Astana. The competition provided young Kazakhstani players with valuable international match experience and an opportunity to earn world ranking points on home soil.
