
Almaty set to host Roland Garros Junior Series by Renault Qualifying event for West & Central Asia
From August 17 to 22, the clay courts of Gorky Tennis Park in Almaty will host the Roland Garros Junior Series by Renault – Qualifications West and Central Asia. The tournament is organized with the support of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation and the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF).
The event is supported by the Almaty city administration and is dedicated to Sports Day, traditionally celebrated in Kazakhstan on the third Sunday of August.
The event will feature 16 of the strongest boys and girls under the age of 16 from West and Central Asia. The winners of the qualifying tournament will earn the right to compete in the Roland Garros Junior Series Final, which will take place in Japan this October. There, players will battle for the only available spot in the main draw of the 2027 Roland Garros Junior Championships.
This year, young talents from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Turkmenistan will compete for the opportunity to play on the legendary clay courts of Paris.
Representing Kazakhstan on home soil will be Rodion Traigel, Dias Tulepbergenov, Beksultan Baurzhanov, Ivan Bondarenko, Amina Nurmakhan, Linara Bulesheva, Alua Marat, and Vlada Kuzmenko.
The Roland Garros Junior Series is an international initiative by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the French Tennis Federation (FFT) aimed at supporting the development of junior tennis. The series provides talented young players from around the world with an opportunity to qualify for the Roland Garros Junior Championships, one of the four Grand Slam junior tournaments.
