Kazakhstan booked place in the finals of Billie Jean King Cup

The National Women’s Tennis Team of Kazakhstan has officially booked place in the final part of the world championship. The decided point in the matchup with the team of Canada was supplied by Yulia Putintseva, who got a win against ex-champion of US Open Bianca Andreescu, in the matchup which went down in the annals of history. The match result: 7:6 (7:5), 3:6, 7:6 (7:4).

The showdown between the team leaders in the decisive encounter turned into an exhaustible tennis thriller that lasted 3 hours and 39 minutes. For both tennis players, this match became the longest of their professional careers.

Bianca Andreescu took to the court immediately following her doubles match, but regardless the lack of proper rest, she put up incredible resistance. Yulia Putintseva demonstrated iron will and physical resilience, having put the game away under the overwhelming support of stands. The victory of Putintseva allowed Kazakhstan to lock up the final win over the Team of Canada in advance.

Nowadays the national team is preparing to the main event of the year. The final Billie Jean King Cup, where the world’s top eight teams will compete, will take place in the fall of 2026 in China.
