Khachanov, Medvedev and Cobolli Inaugurate Kazakhstan Tennis Federation’s New Tennis Complex in Almaty
Tennis superstars Karen Khachanov, Daniil Medvedev, and Flavio Cobolli joined by Kazakhstan’s own Alexander Shevchenko and Beibit Zhukayev inaugurated the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation’s (KTF) new International Tennis Complex in the Alatau district of Almaty on Monday.
The grand opening drew hundreds of young tennis players and fans, who warmly greeted the visiting stars. A local Kazakh band performed in their honor, creating a festive atmosphere as the players toured the new facility and planted trees on the complex grounds — a symbolic gesture of respect for nature and sustainability.
The ceremony was also attended by Almaty Mayor Darkhan Satybaldy KTF President Bulat Utemuratov who joined the players in officially opening the modern tennis center.

«The new tennis center has become an important sports facility for the growing Alatau district of our city,» said Mayor Darkhan Satybaldy «It will serve as a platform for training young athletes and for hosting national and international competitions. This not only raises Almaty’s prestige in the eyes of the global sports community but also contributes to the city’s continued development.»
The new Alatau Tennis Center developed with the support of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation represents another major investment in the country’s fast-growing tennis infrastructure. Covering an area of over 5,000 square meters , the complex features 14 courts — including four indoor and four outdoor hard courts , as well as six outdoor clay courts .
The state-of-the-art facility also includes a medical office, café, modern gym equipped with TechnoGym equipment , and a conference hall . It can accommodate up to 500 athletes per day and meets international standards, allowing it to host national, ITF, and ATF-level tournaments**.
«Investments in infrastructure help make tennis an accessible sport for a wide range of citizens nation,» said KTF President Bulat Utemuratov. «The Alatau Tennis Center is an example of how sports can become a mass movement when world-class conditions are created. Today, more than 30,000 children in Kazakhstan play tennis on a regular basis. One of our key strategic goals is to continue expanding participation and promoting a healthy lifestyle among all citizens.»
