Almaty, Kazakhstan – October 10 — As the ATP Tour transitions from the Asian swing to the European indoor season, all eyes turn to Central Asia, where Kazakhstan is set to host the  6th edition of the Almaty Open , an ATP 250 tournament, from  October 15–19  at the state-of-the-art  Almaty Tennis Center .
Nestled in the scenic foothills of the  Trans-Ili Alatau  mountains, the tournament will bring top-tier tennis action to a region rapidly establishing itself as a rising force in global tennis. This year’s edition promises a thrilling blend of  elite tennis, Kazakh hospitality, and cultural celebration
Headlining the draw  will be Karen Khachanov current World No. 10 and reigning Almaty Open champion. The 29-year-old Russian returns to defend his title, but will face stiff competition from  former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev , who is eager to return to the winner’s circle.
Medvedev, who clinched five titles in early 2023, has endured a trophy drought since his Rome Masters triumph and is looking to rediscover his dominant form. The Almaty Open could be the ideal stage for a strong comeback.
Adding to the excitement is   Flavio Cobolli , Italy’s rising star who reached a career-high World No. 17 in 2025. The 23-year-old has had a breakout season, winning titles at the  Țiriac Open (Bucharest)  and the  Hamburg Open , where he defeated former World No. 5  Andrey Rublev in a career-defining performance.
Another top contender is Luciano Darderi , the Argentine-born Italian who has surged to World No. 29 after a stellar 2025. At just 23, Darderi has already claimed three ATP singles titles this season winning titles at Marrakech ,  Båstad , and  Umag  and will be aiming for a fourth in Almaty.
Last year's finalist  Gabriel Diallo  of Canada returns hoping to go one better, while a strong group of rising star including Americans  Alex Michelson  and  Brandon Nakashima , Serbia’s  Hamad Medjedovic , and Hungary’s  Fabian Marozsan round out an exciting international field.
The local challenge will be led by  Alexander Shevchenko , currently ranked No. 89. The 24-year-old made it to the quarterfinals in Almaty last year and will be aiming to surpass that performance on home soil.
