Almaty Open ATP 250: Wildcards Announced for Omarkhanov, Zhukayev, and Skatov
The Kazakhstan Tennis Federation (KTF), organizers of the Almaty Open ATP 250, has announced the recipients of the main draw wildcards for this year’s tournament, to be held October 11–19 at the state-of-the-art Almaty Arena.
Main draw wildcards have been awarded to Amir Omarkhanov, one of Kazakhstan’s most promising young players and a former world No. 4 junior, along with Beibit Zhukayev and Timofey Skatov, both aged 24.
For 17-year-old Omarkhanov, a native of Karaganda, the tournament presents a major career opportunity. He reached the Round of 16 at the Australian Open Juniors earlier this year and continues to train at the Kazakhstan School of Tennis.
Timofey Skatov, from Petropavlovsk, enters the event in strong form after claiming the Todi ATP Challenger title earlier this season. Beibit Zhukayev, from Aktau, also receives a main draw wildcard, having shown consistent progress on the ATP Challenger Tour. Both Zhukayev and Omarkhanov are products of the national tennis development program.
The organizers also confirmed qualifying wildcards for Denis Yevseyev and Mikhail Kukushkin, giving local fans even more to cheer for during the opening rounds.
This year’s Almaty Open promises a world-class field, led by defending champion and world No. 10 Karen Khachanov, who returns to defend his title. He will be joined by Daniil Medvedev (ATP 18), Italians Flavio Cobolli (ATP 25) and Luciano Darderi (ATP 30), Americans Alex Michelsen (ATP 32) and Brandon Nakashima (ATP 33), Canadian Gabriel Diallo (ATP 35), and Frenchman Corentin Moutet (ATP 39).
The Almaty Open ATP 250 will be held in Kazakhstan’s southern capital from October 11 to 19, showcasing the nation’s growing prominence on the global tennis stage.
