Medvedev, Nakashima, Dardari and Shevchenko to compete in ATP 250 Almaty Open tournament
One of the main tennis events of the year in Kazakhstan is approaching — the ATP 250 Almaty Open tournament.
The organisers have confirmed the participation of three more prominent tennis players: the winner of two ATP tournaments (one of them in singles), the champion of the Next Generation ATP Finals 2022 under-21 tournament, American Brandon Nakashima (32nd in the world), winner of the Next Generation ATP Finals 2023, Serbian Hamad Medjedovic (64th in the world), winner of four ATP tournaments in singles, Italian Luciano Darderi (32 ATP), and Kazakhstan's second-ranked player Alexander Shevchenko.
It should be noted that in 2023, the organisers gave Medjedovic a wild card at the ATP 250 Astana Open, and the Serbian managed to reach the semi-finals, becoming one of the discoveries of the competition.
Previously, the following players had already confirmed their participation in the Almaty Open: reigning tournament champion Karen Khachanov, 2021 US Open winner Daniil Medvedev, Roland Garros 2021 and Australian Open 2023 finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas, Kazakhstan national team leader and seven-time ATP tournament champion Alexander Bublik, as well as Italian Flavio Cobolli, winner of two ATP tournaments.
